Get Involved!

Rarely are lives drastically altered by great productions and events but rather notably changed by the smallest gestures of kindness no matter the origin. Being involved in the growth and expansion of P.T.R.C.’s vision means more than decorating a Sunday School Room; its creating a world where children can dream, become confident in who they are, establish morals and spiritual foundations that will change the course of their lives.

It’s more than playing an instrument; it’s creating an atmosphere and welcoming the Holy Spirit so that hurting souls may receive spiritual weaponry needed to confront a life threatening mountain. It’s more than baking a Cake; its working together to provide for those who haven’t the means to feed or clothe themselves or families. It’s more than cutting the grass; its building character and self esteem that will in time shape the very world in which we live. It’s more than a trip to the movies or a theme park; it’s becoming that one small significant deed that pushes us to see beyond our utilities and mortgages, to magnify God and understand what He has purposed for each of us.

It doesn’t require full time commitment, just the decision I WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Talk with the leaders; we are excited about working with you. We live in the same world as everyone else filled with duty to family and responsibility. We understand wanting to be involved but only having little windows of opportunity. Seize the moment! If it’s as little as 30 minutes once a month! You CAN make a difference. Get involved in changing lives!

SHAWN & LAJUANA GRAY
Ministers of music, praise, and worship

"It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth forever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God."
II Chronicles 5:13-14

The P.T.R.C. Music, Praise & Worship Department, is one body unified in spirit and with a heart of purpose to glorify God. We desire to humbly serve Him in a spirit of excellence as ministers and to lead others into His divine presence through thanksgiving, praise and worship. Our desire is to become True Worshippers. WE PRAY TOGETHER ALOUD because in the Bible we read, “They lifted up their voice to God with one accord.”-Acts 4:24

WE LIFT OUR HANDS in praise because in the Bible we read, “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.” -Psalm 134:2 WE SING WITH ALL OUR HEARTS because in the Bible we read, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth; make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.”-Psalm 98:4 WE PLAY MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS because in the Bible we read, “And all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments.” -II Samuel 6:5 WE CLAP AND SHOUT UNTO GOD because in the Bible we read, “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.”-Psalm 47:1 WE DANCE BEFORE THE LORD because in the Bible we read, “Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.” Psalm 150:4

WE TESTIFY PUBLICLY because in the Bible we read, “I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.” –Psalm 22:22 WE ANOINT WITH OIL for divine healing because in the Bible we read, “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”-James 5:4 WE ALLOW THE OPERATION OF THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS because in the Bible we read, “When ye come together, ever one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation” I Corinthians 14:26

We strive to inspire, encourage, train, and direct those whom God has called into the Music, Praise & Worship Ministry with a spirit of service, excellence, sensitivity, purity, humility and strength. “But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” John 4:23

“Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.” Psalms 16:11

The more our relationship with Christ grows the more we want to share it with others, through song, testimonies and example. We begin to live life as never before experiencing peace, joy, laughter and the many blessings serving God brings. In the past year we have been blessed with invitations to encourage members of Beverly Healthcare, The Oaks and Guardian Angel here in Meridian on Sunday afternoons through music and laughter. It has been enlightening how when you give of yourself God gives right back. We are there to entertain, uplift and encourage but when all is said and done we find we’re the recipients of the greater gift…the ability to see God bless another’s life the way he has blessed ours.

“But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”
James 2:20

Just as Christ made provision and preparation so too must we. No gathering or event just happens. Long before the doors open to a service, the buses start toward your favorite theme park, the drama curtain rises, or you hear the first strands of a concert, faith initiated the Dream Team. The Dream Team is those invisible people who keep everything from the grounds beautiful, the auditorium fresh, funds in the various departments, to stationary in the offices.

The Dream Team is the people who hold fast to the promise that the latter rain will be greater than the former…they are those distinguished, set apart Christians with the spiritual umbrellas. The ones, by the direction of the Spirit, setting out chairs for 5000 when only 100 came to the last service. It’s not about glory or thanks rather preparing for another life to encounter Christ. At P.T.R.C. the Dream Team strives to embrace knowledge and expansion while encouraging respect and appreciation. Our leading project for the past 4 years has been the creation and production of Homemade Candy & Desserts. We work with surrounding communities to raise funds for the various projects, events and needs throughout the year. The fundraiser has become well known locally and receives much patriotism and community involvement. No matter the calling, we gladly remain willing to serve in the Great Ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ.

BRYAN PIERCE
Sunday School Director

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee.” Psalms 119:11

The P.T.R.C. Sunday School Department desires to instill in the heart of all ages, the wonderful Word of our Lord. We want to encourage, from childhood, the building of a daily, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. From the teaching of the great Bible stories of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to Jesus Christ Himself walking and talking with the disciples, we want children and adults alike to realize that we have a friend who will be closer than a brother. To realize that in our Savior, we find someone who cares for every aspect of our daily lives.

The hearts and minds of children are continuously absorbing and reacting to massive amounts of information. We want to instill at “ground level” things that will keep the foundation of their lives stable while encouraging them to lift up and inspire faith and trust in Christ in those around them. No one is too young to make a difference in another’s life. A small example of this comes from our preschool Sunday School Class. One of our three year old children’s mother gave the testimony of telling her daughter they needed to pray for God to provide a new home (they currently rent & want to purchase). Her daughter looked at her and said “With God, everything is possible” which greatly encouraged her mother. Unknown to Mom was the fact that in Sunday School the previous Sunday the Memory Verse was a paraphrase of Matt. 19:26 “…but with God all things are possible.” Three year old Destiny didn’t make it home that week with her Sunday school paper but she had the word in her heart.

ELIZABETH THOMAS
Extended Care Director

“For I was hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, . . . And the King shall answer and say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Matthew 25:35-40

The Extended Care Ministries of P.T.R.C. provide a wide area of services. From visiting and praying with the sick, comforting families who have experienced loss, taking groceries to someone in need, providing a word of encouragement or a friendly smile, our hope is to be willing vessels for Jesus Christ. We are reaching out into our communities helping to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those around us.
